The Legend Lives On: John Travolta’s Timeless Moves from “Grease” Still Wow After 40 Years

Grease is a musical that is widely recognized. Even if you haven’t watched it, you may be acquainted with some of the catchy melodies from that timeless 70s movie.

Upon seeing the dashing Danny Zuko in his legendary leather jacket, many young ladies had their hearts aflutter.

The cherished film graced the cinemas in the summer of 1978. Who can forget the rough Danny falling for the sweet Sandy Olsson from Down Under, amidst the Pink Ladies displaying some remarkable dance routines?

As summer drew to a close, Sandy returned to Australia, and both of them thought they would never meet again. That is until Sandy surprised him at a football match, announcing that she was now a student at his school!

True to his playful character, he pretended as if their summer fling was a thing of the past and tried to remain composed, but it didn’t take long for him to be enchanted by the lovely Sandy once again.

Watching the movie feels like just yesterday, and the melodies and dance routines are still fresh in my mind. It appears I’m not the only one!

John Travolta, who brought Danny to life all those years ago, recently made an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the premiere of Oil.

Travolta recounted the tale behind one of the dance routines in Oil. He told Fallon, “I grew up with all these entertaining novelty dances. For the track ‘You’re the One That I Want’ at the finale of Oil, they needed a dance move. I proposed, ‘Why not utilize the four corners dance we used to do?’ The choreographer responded, ‘Demonstrate how it’s performed.’”

Fallon was captivated, and as the audience erupted in applause, he asked Travolta if he would teach him.

Amidst the live music from Oil playing, anticipation filled the room, and hearts pounded once more.
